Connecticut Food Bank receiving truckload food donation

WHO:              Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) Charitable Foundation’s “Three Square Meals” Family Meal Assistance Program


WHAT:           A convoy of 22 tractor trailer trucks loaded with nutritious, shelf-stable food (enough for 10.4 million meals) will depart the OSJL warehouse in Rhode Island to deliver to 20 Food Banks and Pantries in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, New Jersey, and New York. This is the first installment of a 200-tractor trailer truckload donation totaling 8 million pounds of food for 2017, marking the single largest food assistance program of its kind in the Northeast. The Connecticut Food Bank is among those each receiving a delivery of food.

OTHER:         Funds for Job Lot to purchase the food direct from brand-name manufacturers were donated at the register by OSJL customers in eight states over the 2016 holiday season and matched by Job Lot. Connecticut Food Bank CEO Bernie Beaudreau will be present to meet the truck, discuss the impact of the Three Square Meals program and present Job Lot with a special citation commending them for their support.
