Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare offer more high-demand food online this summer through TEFAP, CT-NAP, and Food Purchases

Network partners have told us that they want more meat, dairy, produce, and proteins. Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare has been able to procure more of these high-demand products through TEFAP orders and the CT-NAP program. We are also increasing purchased foods in these categories. Look for items coming online through our Bloomfield and Wallingford ordering systems in the weeks ahead and throughout the summer.

Some highlights of items expected this summer:

TEFAP Foods

Dairy

Fresh milk will continue to be available through the end of June

Cheese

Butter

Fresh eggs

Protein and meat

Canned/shelf stable – pork, beef, beef stew, boned chicken in pouch, beef chili, peanut butter, garbanzo beans, dried pinto beans, kidney beans, black beans

Frozen – chicken breasts, ground beef, chicken drumsticks, sliced deli turkey, chicken leg quarters, chicken thighs ham, eggs frozen carton, chicken strips

Fruits and Vegetables

Mixed produce boxes will be coming in June and August. The food bank does not have details on what will be included in these TEFAP boxes

Fresh fruit – including pears, oranges, apples, grapes

Frozen fruits and vegetables – asparagus, blueberries

Dried fruit – cranberries, whole dates, raisins, plums, cherries, figs

Canned fruits and vegetables – mixed fruit, pears, corn, sweet peas, green beans, peaches

Nuts – whole roasted almonds, walnuts

Other items

Cranberry juice concentrate, Mac & Cheese, spaghetti sauce, powdered milk, vegetable oil, applesauce, orange juice, cereal, noodles

CT-NAP – expected through August: the focus will be on meat 

Ground beef, fish, poultry, pork

Purchased Foods will emphasize meat and protein 

Peanut butter, poultry, pork, beef, fish, canned chicken

REMINDER: Large-format frozen meats are available

Large-format frozen meats (portions of 5 pounds or larger) continues to be available in category sorted, pallet-sized totes.
