to Support Feeding America Post-Hurricane Food Assistance

morning to support food delivery among Feeding America food banks that continue meeting increased need in the wake of hurricanes Harvey and Irma, which struck the region in late August and early September.


Bellacicco, a driver for the Connecticut Food Bank, will be helping to transport food between food banks and warehouses in Texas as part of Feeding America work in the wake of the storms. He has committed to a two-week assignment.


“Pete has been with the Connecticut Food Bank nearly 10 years,” said Connecticut Food Bank CEO Bernie Beaudreau. “We are not exactly sure what his assignment will be when he gets there, but I know he has skills and the positive attitude that will be welcome in Texas, where so many people have been hard at work for months, helping to provide food to people who have been hit hard by disaster.”


Beaudreau said that many people who were at risk of hunger before the storms may now need food. “People just getting by before the storms may now be out of work or have lost transportation or housing, or all of the above. The increased need and the storm damage are putting increased demand on food banks to meet needs. As part of the Feeding America network, we are glad to have the opportunity to help.”


For his part, Bellacicco says that he is glad to be able to help. “We’ve all been watching the news about the storms this year. It’s good to be able to use my skills to support one of the places that has been hit hard.”
