WALLINGFORD, CONN., March 30, 2016 – The Connecticut Food Bank welcomed Chabaso Bakery CEO Charles Negaro and several team members to the Food Bank’s distribution center in Wallingford on Friday, March 25, to recognize the baking company for donating more than 1 million pounds of bread to the Connecticut Food Bank since 2008.

Negaro was joined by Director of Baking, Sandy Kim; Sales and Customer Support Assistant, Conor Quinn; and Packing Assistants Lizbeth Pacheco and Florente Baranda. The team received a tour of the distribution center from Connecticut Food Bank Interim CEO Paul O’Leary.

“We are grateful to Chabaso for providing daily bread deliveries to the Connecticut Food Bank,” O’Leary said. “These high-quality breads are much appreciated by the people who visit our distribution sites and participating programs.”

O’Leary said the Food Bank was especially pleased to welcome the Chabaso team to the new distribution center in Wallingford. “Today we had an opportunity to recognize many people responsible for the great breads from Chabaso, including two team members who pack our daily deliveries. We were glad to show them our operation and express our thanks to Chabaso for their generosity.”

O’Leary said the bread donated by Chabaso has become a welcome sight to people who visit the 31 Connecticut Food Bank Mobile Pantry distribution sites across Connecticut, as well as those who participate in the GRoW! Up With Good Nutrition program that visits early childhood programs and provides families with young children nutrition education programming along with food to support healthy child development.
