Connecticut Food Bank Marks Hunger Action Month

with Live Mural Event in New Haven

What:                         Live mural painting event to mark Hunger Action Month. Free and open to the public.

When:                        Wednesday, September 16, 20154:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Where:                       Pitkin Plaza, New Haven. Pitkin Plaza is on Orange Street, between Chapel and Court Streets.

Background:           September is Hunger Action Month. To raise awareness about hunger in Connecticut and to inspire people to take action to fight hunger, the Connecticut Food Bank is hosting an event with Hunger Action Month partner Citizens Bank.

Turn Orange to Fight Hunger is a free event showcasing live mural painting by local Graffiti Artist Ryan “ARCY” Christenson.

The event will also feature food from local businesses Trinity Bar and Restaurant, G Café Bakery and Stop & Shop, as well as music spun by RJ the DJ. Employees from Hunger Action Month partner Citizens Bank will be giving out special commemorative items and sharing healthy recipes and tips for stretching your grocery budget. Connecticut Food Bank volunteers will have information to share on the impact of hunger in Connecticut.
