WALLINGFORD, CONN., August 10, 2016 – The Connecticut Food Bank, a Feeding America member food bank, thanks IKEA U.S. customers for their generous contributions from its in-store program ‘Feeding the Future’ that supports children and families in need.   The campaign, which ran June 1–30, 2016, resulted in a total of over $350,000 in donations, of which $10,899 will support the Connecticut Food Bank in the IKEA New Haven area.ikea

For each purchase of select IKEA healthy kids meals, IKEA donated $1 to the Feeding America network.  Additionally, IKEA customers were able to donate $1 at the register at all IKEA cash lanes, customer restaurants, IKEA Bistros and Swedish Food markets. The funds will be distributed to Feeding America member food banks across the U.S.

“Again, our U.S. customers have shown us that supporting our ‘Feeding the Future’ program has great importance in their communities. IKEA is committed to healthy eating and working along with Feeding America helps to support those in need and gives our customers an opportunity to support their local food banks,” commented Gerd Diewald, IKEA U.S. Food Manager.

“We are grateful to IKEA for their support of the community and for giving shoppers an opportunity to help hungry people served by the network of local programs partnered with the Connecticut Food Bank,” said Bernie Beaudreau, the food bank’s CEO. “The dollars given through this program will leverage enough nutritious food to provide nearly 22,000 meals.”
