Connecticut Food Bank / Foodshare Appoints Scott Kemp as Head of Food Operations
Scott Kemp joins Connecticut Food Bank / Foodshare as the Head of Food Operations. In this role, Scott will provide leadership and direction to the food bank’s food sourcing, transportation, distribution, and warehousing of food. It is a significant role at the food bank, encompassing food safety, regulatory compliance, worker and volunteer safety, and the engagement of food donors.
Scott comes to Connecticut Food Bank / Foodshare with more than twenty years of experience in the commercial food and beverage industry. He led sales and delivery operations, as well as business development with both PepsiCo and Coca-Cola. His management style focuses on creating strategic plans to optimize talent, increase diversity, and maximize professional development.

Scott has consulting experience in the nonprofit sector as an Encore CT Fellow from the University of Connecticut and has extensive volunteer engagement in various organizations. As an Encore Fellow, Scott consulted for Building Neighborhoods Together (Bridgeport) and for The Community Foundation of Greater New Haven. Scott is a member of the State of Connecticut Working Group to improve Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Agriculture.
“I’m so excited to work with such good people, partners, volunteers, and donors as we do the good work every day,” Kemp said.
Scott is an active community volunteer. He has spent many years coaching and supporting local youth sports. He has focused on mentoring and advocacy through work with the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and the Mercersburg Academy Black Alumni Association. He has also supported local food pantries through his Two Acres and A Bull micro-farm.
Scott earned a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife Melba live in Ridgefield with their daughters Ella and Charlotte.
