Thanksgiving For All – Frequently Asked Questions

Connecticut Foodshare’s annual Thanksgiving For All campaign raises funds and collects frozen turkeys at community drives across the state so that all of our neighbors can have a holiday to remember.  With nearly 400,000 people facing food insecurity in our state, your generosity helps year-round as well, and supports our work as the Feeding America member food bank for the people of Connecticut.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions to help you prepare for this holiday season.

What Thanksgiving meal items should I donate?

Frozen Turkeys are the most requested food donation at our community drives. Non-perishable items like Stuffing, Gravy, Cranberry Sauce and Canned Vegetables are also high need items.

Is Connecticut Foodshare doing community drives to collect turkeys this year?

Yes! We hold many in-person turkey drives across Connecticut every year. If you are unable to visit us in person, online financial donations not only support the purchase of turkeys and other holiday meal items, but also helps Connecticut Foodshare fulfill our mission of delivering an informed and equitable response to hunger all year long.

Can I drop off a frozen turkey at Connecticut Foodshare?

Yes, you can bring your frozen turkeys to our warehouses in Bloomfield and Wallingford beginning on (beginning date) through (End Date). Signs and directions at each warehouse will guide you to the donation point.

Will Connecticut Foodshare pick up turkeys from me?

We appreciate your support for your neighbors in need, but we are unable to travel and pick up turkeys. Turkeys can be delivered to a Connecticut Foodshare warehouse in Bloomfield, Bridgeport and Wallingford. We are only able to accept fully frozen turkeys.

Is Connecticut Foodshare accepting financial donations?

Yes! Financial donations are also welcome during turkey collection hours at Connecticut Foodshare warehouses in Bloomfield, Bridgeport, and Wallingford. We also offer many online payment methods including PayPal, Venmo, and all major credit card types.

Do you give out turkeys?

Connecticut Foodshare distributes turkeys to our network of partner food providers, who work directly with individuals in need. These turkeys and sides will benefit households that are currently served by our partner program network, these individuals and households are our main target audience during this campaign.
