The SNAP Outreach team at Connecticut Foodshare helps people apply for SNAP benefits, which is one of the most effective tools for addressing hunger in our community.

860-856-HELP (4357)

We are a professionally trained and skilled team that helps, on average, 1500 households each year navigate the application process. We can help reduce the stress of applying because people can call from the comfort of their own private space, and Spanish-speaking applicants can work with our bi-lingual team members to complete the process.

The online application can be completed in about 30 minutes.

Ida told us “It was easier than anything I’ve had to go through before to get any kind of benefits.”

SNAP benefits are also helping families eat better. Krista told us that the first treat her children asked for when they shopped with their benefits card was the fresh raspberries that she couldn’t afford before.

We are here to help Monday thru Friday 9am to 4:30pm. Call 860-856-HELP (4357) to get started.

About SNAP Benefits

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, is a federal nutrition program, administered by the state. Once approved, clients use an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card to help buy the healthy foods they need at their authorized local or online stores.

Connecticut Foodshare does not discriminate or permit discrimination against any person or group of persons on the grounds of race, color, religious creed, age, marital status, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity or expression, mental disability, intellectual disability, learning disability or physical disability, including, but not limited to, blindness.

IMPORTANT: Summer EBT Benefits Delayed until August

Beginning in Summer 2024, Summer EBT (S-EBT), or SUN Bucks, is a permanent program. S-EBT provides families with children extra benefits to help pay for food during the summer.

Orginally scheduled to be released June 23, SUN Bucks benefits are delayed until early August according to the Department of Social Services. Please visit portal.ct.gov/dss/snap/summer-ebt for updates.
