LISC Partners AmeriCorps Members Available

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Connecticut is accepting applications to host an AmeriCorps member for the next program year.  AmeriCorps staffers can help with a range of projects that support increased capacity and the ability to implement or scale up a program as a result of their work. AmeriCorps will not permit staffers to engage in direct service, such as food distribution, delivery, or building maintenance. The positions are partially funded by AmeriCorps and require a match from the hosting organization.

AmeriCorps full-time (1700 hour) members will earn a $21,000 stipend and the part-time (900 hour) member will earn $11,000.  Host sites are responsible to provide a match for the 1700- and 900-hour positions; the match for the full-time member is $15,000 and $9,000 for the 900-hour position.   The service term for these two categories of positions is 11 months.

A primary goal of the LISC AmeriCorps program is to give individuals, especially people of color with lived experience, the opportunity to participate.  AmeriCorps also builds the capacity of BIPOC-led organizations and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and justice, while increasing resident engagement.

Please note to be considered as a placement site, the organization must have a current System for Award Management (SAM) registration. Applications are due no later than February 6 at 4:00 pm and must be submitted in MS Excel format to aberry@lisc.org.

Applications will be reviewed by the local LISC staff based on:

  • The anticipated, meaningful community impact being created as a direct result of the member’s service
  • Demonstrated ability of host organization to supervise and provide a quality experience for the member
  • Timely, accurate, and complete application submissions
  • Past participation (if applicable)
  • How well the proposed service activities align with LISC’s strategy.

New partners considering applying are encouraged to contact Angela Berry (aberry@lisc.org) or Debi Martin (dmartin@lisc.org) if there are questions regarding any aspect of this application.
