“We’re truly grateful for the opportunity to provide our community with more resources. We also appreciate your support and the quality of your service,” Building One Community, known simply as B1C, hosted the newest Connecticut Foodshare mobile food pantry in Fairfield County earlier this year. We were grateful to partner with such caring and organized hosts, and volunteers from the community helped with everything from parking to answering questions and assisting guests with shopping.

Several staff members from Connecticut Foodshare were on hand as well, to provide support and distribute shopping bags and mobile schedule texting information to guests. Kwaku, our driver, welcomed 207 guests to shop the food for the day – fresh eggs, milk, vegetables, bread, snacks, and fruit. B1C did a fantastic job of promoting this mobile food pantry ahead of opening day so it reached the many people who came out despite the cold and wind to get the food they needed.  Everyone left with a full bag or two of fresh food and a smile on their face!

Our board member, Arlene Putterman, also assisted guests on opening day, “It takes a team effort to help those in need and board participation goes a long way. It was a gratifying experience to lend a hand at the mobile pantry food distribution in Stamford."
